We can offer additional cover for your stock, materials, tools and equipment used in connection with your craft business, which belong to you. The standard excess is £50 for each and every claim.

For portable electronic equipment or stock incorporating precious metals or gemstones, the excess is £250.

5. Employers Liability

If you have employees, and you do not hold Employers’ Liability cover, you may be in breach of legal requirements.

An employee isn’t solely classed as someone where you are responsible for their tax and national insurance contributions. If you have volunteers, assistants, helpers or work experience students, paid or unpaid, full time or part time, who are working under your supervision, direction or control, they could be deemed employees.

Limited companies that have two or more directors require compulsory Employers’ Liability cover, regardless of whether they are family businesses, or the directors are husband and wife.

By accepting this insurance you confirm that the facts stated below are true. We have relied on these facts and all the information that you or anyone on your behalf provided, in agreeing to provide this insurance and in setting the terms and premium.
You must read this document to ensure that all the facts stated below are accurate and complete. If any of the facts stated below or any of the information provided to us is not correct or needs to be changed, you must tell us before the start of the period of insurance.
If there are changes to this information during the period of insurance you must tell us. When we are notified of a change we will tell you if this affects your policy. If you do not inform us about a change it may affect any claim you make or could result in your insurance being invalid.
You do not expect any significant change/s in the next 12 months to the activities for which this insurance is required

You do not undertake any work in a territory where the Foreign Office advise against all non-essential travel

You or including any directors or partners have not been declared bankrupt or become insolvent or made any voluntary arrangement with creditors or been subject to enforcement of a judgement debt either in a personal capacity or as a business within the last 3 years

You have not been convicted of or charged with any offence, other than a motoring offence or conviction spent under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974
Where your craft product is:

• consumable, or
• is a lotion, cream or suchlike which is applied to any part of the body or hair; or
• contains electrical components;
• includes moving parts

you:

• sources all materials, components, ingredients or goods from reputable suppliers; and
• keep a written record of the suppliers for all purchases made; and
• ensure that the product is supplied with full safety instructions and, where applicable, appropriate allergy warnings

Where you produces any item for which certification is required under the European Union the you ensure that you comply fully with all applicable aspects of such Directives or legislation such as but not limited to the following activities:

• where you produce cosmetics you comply with The Cosmetic Products (Safety) Regulations 2008 and all subsequent amendments; or
• where you produce toys you comply with the EU Toy safety directive, Directive 2009/48/EC; or
• where you produce soft furnishings or furniture as defined within The Furniture and Furnishings (Fire Safety) Regulations 1988 (as amended in 1989, 1993 and 2010) you comply with all requirement of The Furniture and Furnishings (Fire Safety) Regulations 1988 (as amended in 1989, 1993 and 2010); or
• where you produce any food or food related item you comply with The Food Safety Act 1990 – A guide for Food Businesses and their kitchen must be registered with the respective local authority Environmental Health department
• where your activities involve the crafting of small electrical goods you ensure that the good comply with The Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 1994, you ensure that you comply fully with all relevant and applicable aspects of such Directives or legislation

Where you crafts decorative knives or other decorative hand weaponry they musty comply with all of the requirements of:

• The Criminal Justice Act 1988; and
• The Knives Act 1997; including but not limited to age verification checks in order to prevent an underage sale

Where you undertake any chainsaw carving in public, or at third party premises, you hold a nationally recognised training and assessment certificate for such an activity. (e.g. the LANTRA Integrated Training & Assessment Certificate for Chainsaw Maintenance & Cross-Cutting)
You do not undertake any activities for which this insurance is required outside of the Republic of Ireland for more than 30 days in any one period of insurance

You do not undertake any work in or on blast furnaces, chimney or well shafts, viaducts, bridges, mines, refineries, off-shore installations, power stations, dams, tunnels, airports or aerodromes docks, wharves, piers, harbours, railways, motorways, ships, aircraft towers or steeples

You do not undertake any work in or on water or underground
